Be an "Epidemic", but the good kind. Spread the word.

Instagram

Picture
@Bullyingneedtostop is an Instagram page that promotes anti-bullying posts. What they do is provide motivational pictures everyday. These pictures have quotes in them that give motivation and good vibes to bullying victims. This page allows people to see, in particularly victims, that there are a numerous people who care about them, people who would do anything to stop the pain and suffering that they are going through.

The thing about bullying victims is that most of them do not see a reason to go on. They don't really care about "a brand new day." In fact, they detest the thought of another day because they have to face their bullies all over again. The thought of getting up in the morning and going to school, or checking their phones and seeing 19,234,444 texts and emails, and inboxes of people telling them horrific things is not necessarily something someone wants to wake up to. That is why most of them absolutely hate having to go on and live through another day.

@Bullyingneedstostop is a phenomenal way to give hope. The pictures that are constantly posted are great ways to show victims that not only do they care but there are a lot of other people and organizations out there that are  for the victims too. Although this page is not an official organization, they represent emotional help.

YouTube

Like Instagram, YouTube also plays a big role in "being an epidemic." Like this video, which talks about Cyber bullying, thousands of other videos circulate through the YouTube world. YouTube is a great way to spread the word using videos.

Quite often people do not allow themselves to be educated about Bullying because it requires reading. Let's be honest, a lot of people absolutely hate reading or are just too lazy to do so. That is where YouTube comes in. YouTube allows people to spread the word about an important issue in videos. More times than less, people prefer to watch videos than sit down and read paragraphs and paragraphs of words about an issue. Not only are people lazy to read but videos help you visualize the situation.

When you read about a suicide attempt or someone getting bullied, your reaction is for a second. Now we do this, not because we're horrible people, but because we are not physically seeing what the other person did to themselves. Now on the other hand, when you watch someone do something negative, it impacts you on a completely different level. When you see someone do something that you know is bad, you start to feel some type of way. For example, I would cry because I would feel useless. I would feel useless because I am not able to help this poor person.

Video is a phenomenal way to spread the word about bullying. Anybody who has a huge passion for the end to bullying or for the spread of the word against bullying can create an account and make videos and post them online for thousand of people to see and spread the word.

Facebook

Picture
Like both Instagram and YouTube, Facebook is another way to spread the word. There are countless pages on Facebook that promote anti-bullying. Facebook allows people to like a page that goes against bullying and reunite people to take a stand for it.

Bullying does not only affect people in the US, it affects everyone. By everyone, I mean worldwide. This means it affects every community out there. The Facebook page "No Al Bullying" is a spanish-based page on Facebook that basically spreads the word in the Hispanic Community.

Like any other race, Hispanics also encounter Bullying. This page spreads the word by posting videos in Spanish on how to stop the hatred towards one another. It also has links to websites where victims can go and talk to people who can provide comfort and help them through their tough times. Since one of the most common ways of bullying is by Cyber Bullying, this page attempts to help people get away from negative social media. They tell them that not all social medias are necessary, and that they have the power to turn off their computers and or phones and just "Walk away" from it.

People who are cyber bullied have an "advantage" over others in the sense that they have the power to turn off their electronics and walk away from the negativity. Cyber bullies are only as strong and powerful as their victims allow them to be. If the victims were to simply block them or isolate themselves from their social medias, they no longer have to deal with the bullies and the negative comments. This is something that people who are physically bullied do not have the opportunity to do.

Why should we help?

When you look at the picture below, what crosses your mind?  When I look at this picture, I can not help but feel horrible. We do not know what's going on in that picture. For all we know, the girl on the floor could be knocked out, the girl could be crying, she could be sleeping or she could simply be trying to hide her face from the hit she is about to encounter. Either way, this image can create a thousand different questions in your head. What can we do to stop this? We can start by standing strong together. We can start by UNITING and showing the victims like the girl below that there is a way out. They have the opportunity to stand up to their bullies and tell them "NO MORE!" Everyone connected to anti-bullying work unites and provides all the help they can offer to these individuals in need. If you or a loved one have been or are continuously being bullied, do not hold back! Do not hold it in. A person can only hold so much in. Everyone is a ticking bomb and eventually we all explode. We need to unite with one another and stop bullies now.
